Exclusive Chatsworth Chinese Wallpaper Collection from Emma Britton
Emma Britton Decorative Glass Designer has created a range of glassware exclusively for Chatsworth House inspired by their Chinese Wallpaper. New for 2024, the five-piece decorative glassware collection features contemporary crystal glasses as well as two beautiful vases. Designed, decorated and hand-finished locally to Chatsworth at Emma’s glassware studio.
Behind the Chinese Wallpaper Glassware Design
Chatsworth’s Chinese wallpapers are a perfect example of regency taste from the 19th Century. Featuring a hand-painted pattern of native birds and branches, the wallpapers themselves are believed to date back to around 1790 when they were crafted in Southern China. The ornate patterns feature in four guest rooms at Chatsworth House, having been installed by the 6th Duke of Devonshire in the late 1820s. The papers are some of the most frequently admired decorative objects at Chatsworth.
Emma and her team sensitively translated these heritage designs into beautiful patterns for glass. Depicting entwined branches and botanical details, these exquisite glassware designs are perfect for modern living.
The Emma Britton Chatsworth glassware collection includes a decorative carafe, short drinks tumbler and a special boxed champagne coupe set. Additionally, a large flower vase and accompanying crystal bud vase complete the collection.
The carafe is slender and tapered in shape, etched with detailed foliage and a bird. Use for both wine and water.
Contemporary and lightweight tumblers feature delicate entwined stems.
An ideal gift, the elegant champagne coupes feature a detailed repeat bird and branch pattern.
Pretty and practical, the larger vase is a stunning choice for table centrepieces and really showcases elaborate wallpaper pattern.
The dainty crystal bud vase is ideal for displaying small posies and single stems. Featuring a twisting botanical design.
Chatsworth is one of the most prestigious stately homes in the UK, and is especially renowned for its art and history. The Chinese Wallpapers are widely recognised and admired within the estate’s collections, so undertaking this commission has been a real privilege.
