Collection in Focus: A Muse on Meadow
Ethereal and organic perfectly sums up Emma’s wildflower and butterfly glass design, Meadow. With new decorative glassware pieces joining the collection in 2024, we thought we’d share a spotlight on this poignant design. Discover the hidden meanings behind the pattern in this new journal post.
Meadow – Design with a Conscience
Meadow by Emma Britton is a decorative glassware collection that really celebrates British meadows and the role they play in the biodiversity of the UK. Meadows are semi-natural grasslands which were once found all across the country. Although, now only 3% of meadows that were found 90 years ago remain. With a third of all British flora found in these rich habitats, it’s especially vital that meadows are protected and nurtured. Not to mention them being home to an abundance of pollinators, insects and birds.
Conscious design like Emma’s raises awareness of environmental issues, such as the protection of Britain’s wildflower meadows. Taking inspiration not just from the beauty of meadows, but also their importance, Emma created a beautiful glassware design that really encapsulates the abundance of flora and fauna found. Featuring hand illustrated grasses and seedheads, the design is ethereal and wild feeling. Hidden also is a little butterfly, can you spot it hiding in the stems?
New Meadow Decorative Glassware

This capsule collection of decorative glassware contains three pretty and practical designs, to see you through summer entertaining, gifting and beyond. Environmental Awareness at Emma Britton
Emma’s sensitivity to environmental issues is also highlighted in her Rain Garden splashback design. Plants that are able to thrive in droughts feature in this striking splashback, as an acknowledgment of changing climates. Hand-painted Foxtail Lilies, Chilean Firebush and Bunny Tails make for a pattern with a conscience – as well as a soft, tonal look for modern bathrooms and kitchens.
Sustainability is a real underpinning at Emma Britton Decorative Glass Designer in everything we do, and something that Emma personally champions. We make real effort to be as low waste and plastic free as possible, and are always looking for ways to reduce the footprint we leave on our environment.
